Mathematics Further
In accordance to the VCAA Further Mathematics Study Design (06-12), students in our Further Mathematics Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will become theoretically proficient in:
- Univariate and Bivariate data, linear relations, graphs and modelling, as well as several other key topics from Unit 1 and 2.
- Data Analysis
- Number Patterns
- Geometry and Trignometry
- Graphs and Relations
- Business-related Mathematics
- Networks and Decision Mathematics
- Matrices
In addition, they will also be taught the methods and skills required for them to:
- define and explain the key terms and concepts learnt from both the core and module learning areas
- employ the knowledge learnt to solve routine application problems
- use acquired mathematical methods to analyse an extended practical problem, interpret the outcome of the problem and evaluate the suitability of the methods used in terms of their key features
- select and use appropriate technology to develop mathematical ideas, investigate results and carry out analysis in situations that require problem-solving and modelling techniques
- analyse and discuss the applications of the Mathematics principles learnt
Mathematical Methods (Computer Algebra System)
In accordance to the VCAA Mathematical Methods (CAS) Study Design (06-12), students in our Mathematical Methods (CAS) Unit 3 and Unit 4 courses will become theoretically proficient in:
- Graph sketching, Transformations and Equation solving
- Rules and Types of functions
- Algebra Techniques
- Circular Functions
- Derivatives and Differentiation
- Anti-differentiation and Integration
- Random Variables
- Matrices
- Discrete and Continuous Probability Distribution
In addition, they will also be taught the methods and skills required for them to:
- define and explain the key mathematical concepts learnt and apply the acquired knowledge to a range of related mathematical routines and procedures.
- expand the knowledge learnt by applying learnt mathematical concepts to non-routine contexts, and analyse these applications of mathematics.
- select and use appropriate CAS and other technology to develop mathematical ideas, investigate results and carry out analysis in situations that require problem-solving and modelling techniques
Mathematics Specialist

- Advanced modelling and graphic techniques
- Rational, real and complex arithmetic
- Algebraic Manipulation
- Diagrams and Geometric construction
- Complex Differentiation and Integration
- Kinematics and Mechanics
- Vector Representation and Proof
- Vector Calculus
- Vector Modelling
In addition, they will also be taught the methods and skills required for them to:
- define and explain the key mathematical terms and concepts learnt and apply the acquired knowledge to a range of related mathematical routines and procedures, both manually and with the aid of appropriate technology.
- apply mathematical processes, with an emphasis on general cases, in non-routine contexts
- explore and such application of mathematics
